We were created to desire and appreciate beauty, and we enjoy it in many forms. It could be a lovely tune, a moving story, a delicious meal, or as I’m highlighting here, a photograph.
We love to experience beauty, because ultimately we were created to glorify God and enjoy him forever. God himself is the source of all beauty, and it is why we can find any beauty here. As we imitate him through architecture, creating order in the midst of chaos, or capturing moments of beauty in a photograph, we are fulfilling part of our created purpose.
We can stop short of ultimate goal when we appreciate photography, music, or bird song without recognizing the God who gives all things their beauty. We understand that an artist wants credit for his painting, but we can neglect to give glory to God who created man’s ability to make beautiful things.
My hope is that the images that I capture may help direct your thoughts to God, as you appreciate any beauty that is there.
